The best parts of Christmas for me, besides the presents of course, are all the Christmas light displays in Arvada, CO. Every year there are so many new and unbelievable displays put together by residents in all areas of Arvada, CO. The time it takes to put something like this together takes months!
It has been a tradition in our family for many years to go out one night and drive a route to see all the spectacular displays. The Rocky Mountain News, now the Denver Post, use to put out routes for each city of the best lighted homes in your area. There now is a list online that you can print yourself of homes in your area that have been photographed and submitted for the lighting contest that the Post is hosting.
Being from the Arvada area, here are a few of my favorites this year.
The Shelton Family Home
6665 Kline St.
Arvada, CO 80004
5026 W. 61st Place
Arvada, CO 80003
And the one we never miss every year, we call the Music House is on the corner of 58th and Van Gordon in Arvada. You can tune your car radio to a station, then watch the lights dance and flash to the numerous Christmas songs. There is supposed to be over 38,000 lights!! This is a display you don’t want to miss. All free will donations go to help the local food bank.
So pack up some hot chocolate and snacks, bring your hats and gloves, and spend some great family time checking out your local area light displays. ENJOY!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
