Big House Small House Aurora, Co

Humble HouseHouses seem to be getting smaller these days according to new home builders in Aurora, Co

I watched a program the other day that followed a family of 5 that moved from a huge house (house #1) to a 700 square foot house (houses #2) as an experiment.

The 700 square foot house was the size of their kitchen in house #1. There was no T.V., internet, playstation and so on. Only one small bathroom, 2 bedrooms, a small but workable kitchen and one living room where everyone could gather.

The family recognized that house #2 was much more intimate.  Instead of the family being in 5 different rooms and totally separated from each other they now were together more often.

The 3 girls played outside games, jump rope, hide a seek, like the

Arvadans - Do You Know Your Neighbors?

Sunday, April 24th, 2011 at 12:50pm. 398 Views, 0 Comments.

Well, DO you know your neighbors?

Have you ever made an effort? What about a block party, or other event?

I've thrown block parties, had police officers come by to give talks, and a few other events all to get to know my neighbors. I discovered that some people don't WANT to be known! But most people really enjoy these events.

Now, the City of Arvada is making it easier with a little grant money. That's right, the City of Arvada will pay residents to throw a party!

There are some rules, of course. Check them out by clicking on the words, "Know Your Neighbor Grants". I thought this was such a charming idea.

I don't know if it's the first time this is being offered, or how quickly the money might run out.

If you don't already have a group,

Giving blood for Easter Babies?

Friday, April 22nd, 2011 at 5:47pm. 247 Views, 0 Comments.

Apparently Bonfils Blood Center figured out that my blood is safe to give directly to babies and at risk recipients. Before finding this out giving blood was an occasional thing. The strange thing is that now, I feel like I must do it because my heightened awareness of how everyone’s donation makes a difference. As a Realtor I'm passionate about neighborhoods that are built around communities. We all need to do the simple things that can change lives and give back in a grass roots way. Out of all the Bonfils facilities that I've been experience, the Bonfils in Lowry is easy for me to walk to, it also has plenty of front row parking. Lets face it; your blood donations are sold. Lets also face the fact that were else is doing it, or has the infrastructure…

Trash Talk in Arvada, CO

Thursday, April 21st, 2011 at 11:15pm. 486 Views, 0 Comments.

Arvada's popular curbside cleanup program is back, scheduled for May 9 through May 27.

If this will be your first Curbside Cleanup, here's how it works:

  1. Figure out what days your street is scheduled for pickup. Here's a link to Arvada's 2011 Spring Curbside Cleanup where you can find yourself on the map, or put your address into the search bar.

  2. Gather up your junk. Remember, this is not intended for items that the regular trash pickup would haul away. They'll take furniture including mattresses, interior fixtures such as carpeting, drywall, sinks, toilets, bathtubs, exterior items such as gas grills (no propane bottles) fencing, lumber, lawn edging.

  3. They will not pick up trees, branches, shrubs, dirt, brick, rock, concrete, asphalt, roofing

Difficult to find homes under $160K

Thursday, April 21st, 2011 at 11:37am. 302 Views, 0 Comments.

I have 2 buyers looking for homes in the USDA approved areas near Longmont.  It is very difficult to find homes in this price range.  We have written 4 offers with one buyer only to compete on all of them against cash buyers.  Things are definitely picking up in this price range and the over $700K price range.

Good to see!
